About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Boat Captain in the safe and efficient operation of GALAXEA vessels across The Red Sea destination
  • Assist with navigation, manoeuvring, docking, anchoring, mooring, voyage planning, and vessel movement
  • Conduct safety checks and guest safety briefings
  • Support emergency response procedures, drills, incident reporting, and risk-control documentation
  • Welcome guests and assist with boarding, disembarkation, luggage, transfers, excursions, diving, and watersports activities
  • Coordinate with marine crew, Dive Guides, Divemasters, Watersports teams, Guest Experience, and Resort Operations
  • Inspect vessel machinery, navigation systems, safety equipment, communications systems, and operational equipment
  • Support refuelling, freshwater replenishment, waste management, preventative maintenance, and vessel readiness
  • Support diving, marine exploration, island transfer, and other approved marine experiences
  • Follow marine conservation and environmental protection procedures
  • Maintain vessel logs, inspection records, fuel records, maintenance documentation, trip records, permits, certificates, and operational reports
  • Apply HSQE policies and contribute to continuous improvements in safety, efficiency, guest experience, and crew coordination

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Diploma or qualification in Marine Operations, Nautical Studies, Maritime Transport, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Valid and recognised marine/vessel operator certification appropriate to the vessel type and operating area
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in marine operations, vessel operations, maritime tourism, diving operations, watersports, or a comparable marine environment
  • Previous passenger, leisure, dive, excursion, or tourism vessel experience is preferred
  • Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from an internationally recognised training provider
  • Valid marine safety or equivalent certification as required for the applicable vessel and operating area
  • Experience with vessel navigation systems, marine communications, GPS, radar, depth sounders, and other onboard equipment is preferred
  • Previous luxury resort, marine tourism, remote destination, or island operations experience is advantageous
  • Strong practical knowledge of vessel operations and marine safety
  • Understanding of navigation, seamanship, vessel handling, and marine operational procedures
  • Ability to support vessel manoeuvring, docking, anchoring, and guest transfers safely
  • Strong situational awareness and ability to assess changing sea and weather conditions
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergencies
  • Understanding of vessel safety equipment and emergency procedures
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Professional, guest-focused approach and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and dynamic operational environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to vessel readiness
  • Physically fit and capable of working extended periods in a marine environment
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Arabic is advantageous
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, public holidays, early mornings, evenings, and varying marine schedules
  • Frequent travel between marinas, resorts, islands, dive sites, and other marine locations may be required
