About the role
- Under the direction of the Portfolio Manager, Product Owner, or Project Lead, the Business Analyst supports Micro Technologies' software and service solutions in the production animal sector.
- This role is responsible for collecting, refining, and documenting requirements that bridge the business and development teams.
- The analyst ensures our solutions are clearly scoped, technically feasible, and tested against well-articulated acceptance criteria.
- The successful candidate will apply strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills to deliver actionable documentation that supports development velocity, QA planning, and business stakeholder alignment.
- Primary Responsibilities: Serves as a liaison between business stakeholders, developers, and QA teams, ensuring a clear and shared understanding of business requirements.
- Leads or assists in the discovery, documentation, and refinement of business and functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Maintains traceability of requirements from initial request through final implementation.
- Participates in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives as needed.
- Partners with the QA team to ensure that requirements are testable and clearly aligned with user expectations.
- Documents and updates current-state and future-state business process flows.
- Supports multiple internal stakeholders across domains such as software development, field operations, and customer support.
- Prepares or contributes to stakeholder-facing documentation such as release notes, user guides, or change summaries.
- May coordinate with developers or product leadership to scope smaller enhancements or system refinements.
- Utilizes tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent platforms for managing requirements and documentation.
- Applies familiarity with UI/UX design principles and mockup tools (Justinmind, Figma, Adobe XD, etc.) to collaborate on interface concepts and user workflows.
- Maintains awareness of business context and downstream system impacts to reduce rework and misalignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required.
- 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong foundation in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
- Experience working in agile or hybrid development environments preferred.
- Experience or familiarity with agricultural, livestock, or accounting domains is a plus but not required.
- Proficiency with modern collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Office 365).
- Excellent discovery and documentation skills, including the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, actionable items.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and contribute as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across functional areas.
