About the role
- Management and oversight of daily, month end/quarter end/year end closing procedures across General Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Treasury and Service Revenue Billing team
- Facilitate review meetings and analytics, ensuring results are accurate and timely
- Support the creation, review and update of supporting SOX narratives and coordinate the SOX testing program
- Support execution of internal control procedures across Accounting team, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SOX
- Participate in internal and external audits as they arise (preparation and facilitation as required)
- Foster the development and implementation of new procedures and controls to enhance the workflow of the department and accuracy of financial results
- Support completion of tax returns and any subsequent tax assessments
- Actively participate in the process improvement initiatives within the Accounting/Finance department
- Performs related duties as assigned including inquiries regarding financial results and reporting
Requirements
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
- CPA designation an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ directly related experience
- Experience working in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry and / or Audit experience would be an asset
- Strong working knowledge of accounting practices and principles
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Strong critical thinking skills and analytical skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
- Working knowledge of Sage, and other ERP software packages
