About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Locate underground utilities correctly, safely, and efficiently
- Thoroughly search areas for all underground utilities
- Mark utility locations properly
- Complete necessary paperwork
- Document each locate using a company-provided laptop and smartphone
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Travel locally during the business day
- Work daytime full-time shifts, with possible overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1 year of utility locating experience required
- Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
- Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected
- Able to pass a drug screen
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Able to stand and walk for long periods on varying terrain
- Able to bend and stoop
- Able to lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
- Proficiency with technology
- Ability to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
- Ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints
- Basic math skills to calculate distances
- Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
- Customer service experience is a plus
- Prior industry experience is required
