Lead structural engineering and project management for commercial and varied facilities from concept through construction.
Perform business development: lead generation, relationship building, client presentations, proposal writing, estimates.
Prepare structural design documents: technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Direct, review, or approve project design changes and present findings to clients.
Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications and provide scope estimates.
Serve as project manager and/or lead structural design engineer, manage budgets and subcontractors.
Perform construction administration/observation and quality control/quality management duties.
Use drafting and software tools including AutoCAD and Revit; use structural analysis software.
Requirements
A professional structural engineer license (SE) is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis or Architectural Engineering degree with an emphasis in structural from an accredited college or university.
10+ years of relevant work experience in structural engineering.
Located within 30 miles of the Twin Cities Metro Area.
Knowledge and understanding of other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, environmental) and architectural practices.
Proven ability to work independently.
Ability to effectively communicate with all parties in oral and written communications.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with varied scope and complexity.
Requires creative and alternative thinking to develop creative ideas for and answers to work-related problems.
Solid project management and problem-solving skills.
Self-confidence and experience working with clients, subcontractors, colleagues, etc.
Willingness to personally take on responsibilities and challenges.
Proficiency with structural analysis software like RISA 3D, SAP2000, RAM Structural or other Bentley Software.
Experienced with the analyses and design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures and related elements.
Experience with Auto-CAD, REVIT, and MS Office products is required.
