About the role

  • Development, analysis, and specification of membranes and CCMs for use in PEM electrolysis cells.
  • Execution and further development of characterization methods to determine chemical, mechanical, and physical properties.
  • Planning and execution of experimental test series, data evaluation, and derivation of actionable recommendations.
  • Assessment of new membrane materials and collaboration with suppliers and research partners.
  • Support in material qualification for existing and new products.
  • Documentation of results, preparation of technical reports, and presentation within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Close collaboration with teams in stack development, quality, and production.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed master’s degree or PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, process engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of practical experience in the characterization of polymers and composite materials, ideally in the field of fuel cells or water electrolysis.
  • Solid knowledge of ion-conducting polymers, especially perfluorinated membranes.
  • Confident handling of analytical and mechanical testing methods.
  • Independent, structured working style and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Good understanding of electrochemical systems, particularly PEM water electrolysis.
  • Very good written and spoken English skills; German language skills are an advantage.
