About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the Huntsville integration engineering team to deliver reliable, field-ready systems for UAS and other platforms.
This role combines team leadership and hands-on engineering across hardware, software and systems.
Work closely with Project Managers, Principal Engineers, Technical Leads, and teams in Sydney to integrate and deploy systems on target platforms.
Plan and execute integration activities and field trials, including equipment preparation, test execution, and data capture.
Plan and document integration builds, test configurations, results, and anomalies to support traceability and repeatability.
Establish and improve integration and deployment practices, processes, tools, and testing approaches to support repeatable and efficient execution.
Lead the team to ensure equipment, consumables, and laboratory environments are maintained to support safe and effective operations.
Liaise with suppliers and support procurement activities for prototype builds.
Lead, mentor and support engineers, contributing to a high-performing and accountable team.

Requirements

What you’ll need

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field of engineering
Proven experience leading systems engineering, integration, and validation of complex hardware/software systems, ideally within aerospace, defense, or advanced sensing domains
Excellent written and verbal communications skills and experience working with a variety of stakeholders including technical, commercial, and operational staff including external partners and customers
Experience leading field trials and flight testing autonomously
Knowledge of aerospace quality systems, certification and qualification processes
Knowledge of documentation and configuration management practices, and experience using collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
