About the role

  • Own the design, development, integration and support of our quantum sensors, from requirements through to detailed mechanical design and testing.
  • Design mechanical parts of sensors including laser systems, ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems, and structural components to connect it all together.
  • Work in close collaboration with research scientists, engineers and stakeholders to assist scientific advancement and to make our technology work robustly in the field.
  • Participate in full lifecycle of quantum technology: design, prototyping, testing, verification and validation, and field demonstrations.
  • Be part of the team responsible for integration, test and validation of newly commissioned sensors and support critical quantum sensing field trials with key industry partners.
  • Understand and apply industry standards when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering.
  • Track record of delivering high-precision prototype mechanical designs including analysis, drawings and tolerancing, assembly etc.
  • Demonstrated experience designing with Inventor or similar CAD software.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an R&D environment with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) (nice to have).
  • Experience with mechanical design for optical systems (nice to have).
  • Demonstrated expertise with FEA for structural / modal analysis (nice to have).
