About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Taking a game concept or design specification and building it into a fully working game on our Java code base, owning the server-side game logic from first commit through to release.
- Implementing core game mechanics, reel logic, feature triggers, and bonus flows so they behave exactly as the design intends.
- Building the game mechanics in a clean, well-structured way and passing the game over to the Game Mathematicians for balancing.
- Acting as the owner of the final product, coordinating the work needed to take a game from concept to a released, client-ready title.
- Handling the setup and administrative work around each game so it can be integrated with the client, including configuration, metadata, and the interfaces the client relies on.
- Collaborating closely with Game Mathematicians throughout the project, handing over a solid, well-structured game for balancing and working together to resolve logic or behavioural issues.
- Working alongside Client Developers, Designers, QA Engineers, and Producers to make sure the server implementation lines up with the client, the art, and the intended player experience.
- Integrating with our backend platform, managing game state, and ensuring secure, reliable handling of game rounds and transactions.
- Diagnosing and resolving logic, behavioural, or integration issues raised during development, QA, or from live production environments.
- Writing clean, maintainable, well-structured code, and helping to keep our code base healthy, consistent, and easy to work in.
- Playing an active part in the ongoing improvement of our code base - refactoring, paying down technical debt, and helping shape better patterns, tooling, and development practices as the platform evolves.
