About the role

  • Develops solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems requiring an extensive knowledge of the subject and familiarity with related disciplines
  • Leads in the preparation of or prepares engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, cost estimates, evaluations, or studies
  • Setting policies and procedures around data and records management, conducting and analyzing research, managing engineering projects, and working directly with customers
  • Drafting and designing projects for new customer construction and public improvement infrastructure projects
  • Commercial and residential electrical design and design approval
  • Building costing models for feasibility inquiries for customers
  • Assisting with training of newly hired engineers and providing technical leadership, training, and mentorship to other personnel
  • Performing or managing the creation and updating of job work orders and project documentation including tasks, calculations, and reporting
  • Conducting complex office and field research, measurement and verification of equipment data, and creating and updating equipment records
  • Leading, directing and performing data and records management
  • Ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements
  • Coordinates the work of others who assist in specific assignments (including contractors/consultants)
  • Responsible for driving improvements and maintaining department standards, processes, templates, tools and databases
  • Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts
  • Ensures duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent technical certificate in design or pre-engineering and 3-5 years of relevant experience, or 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of subject matter within assigned area of focus, and basic knowledge of related disciplines
  • Organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Expert with PC and design software, and other database applications
  • Experience in design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies (desired)
  • Experience in project cost estimating or scheduling (desired)
  • Experience working with both internal and external customers on projects (desired)
  • Knowledge of engineering economics & analysis (desired)
