About the role

  • Design and development of backend services and APIs
  • Design and implementation of scalable microservices based on Java using Spring Boot or Quarkus
  • Collaborate on concept design and make decisions about system architectures
  • Work with containerized applications based on Docker and Kubernetes
  • Support operations and ongoing development
  • Develop and maintain interfaces (e.g., REST, GraphQL)
  • Actively participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions
  • Identify and implement improvements related to performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing systems

Requirements

  • Several years of professional experience (5+ years) as a Java or backend developer
  • Solid experience with Spring Boot and/or Quarkus in production environments
  • Confident use of container technologies: Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with at least one hyperscaler, ideally GCP
  • Experience with on-premises applications is a plus
  • Proficiency in at least one common API paradigm such as REST (RESTful) or GraphQL
  • Knowledge of another programming language such as Go, TypeScript, Rust, or Python
  • Familiarity with caching mechanisms and cache invalidation
  • Working knowledge of test development, mocking frameworks, and build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle)
  • Familiarity with queues, message brokers, or stream processing
  • German language skills at least at C1 level
