About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Research, draft, and edit pleadings, motions, and briefs for impact litigation
Participate in discovery activities including document review, witness interviews, and depositions
Engage with clients, outside counsel, and non-litigation external stakeholders
Research and devise innovative legal arguments and potential litigation approaches
Help develop ideas for integrated advocacy projects
Manage cases including legal filings and maintaining materials
Collaborate with communications and policy teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

One to five years of legal experience (including clerkships)
Enthusiasm for and commitment to Protect Democracy’s nonpartisan approach
Exceptional analytical skills, writing, and presentation skills
Ability to track, prioritize, and balance diverse responsibilities
Ability to foster collaborative relationships across diverse teams
Growth mindset and enthusiasm for feedback
Nimbleness and ability to perform well in a dynamic environment
Commitment to democratic norms and institutions
(Preferred) Experience in election law or voting rights law
(Preferred) Experience in impact litigation or supporting policy advocacy
