About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support an engagement with The Veterans Integrated Services Network 17 (VISN 17).
Support the current expanded operations and post-COVID operations to restore the healthcare systems to pre-Pandemic operations.
Perform nursing services at the Texas Valley Costal Bend Health Care System.
Foster teamwork collaboratively as a participant, and effectively as a team leader.
Exercise judgment and organization in managing projects and prioritizing tasks.
Participate in patient and family teaching and provide hand-off documentation.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from a program that has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Registered Nurse with a current Texas State license including BLS certification and ACLS certification.
Assess the physiological and psychological health status of the patient.
Formulate and implement a nursing plan of care based on health data provided by the patient.
Plan of care that prescribes nursing actions to achieve patient goals and coordinates and organizes nursing activities.
Coordinate patient care needs with team members, including other disciplines.
Administer drugs and solutions as prescribed (competent with drug administrations and titrations per ACLS protocol)
Physiologically monitor the patient throughout their stay.
Adhere to universal protocol.
Perform nursing actions that demonstrate accountability.
Participate in patient and family teaching.
Provide Hand-off documentation.
Skills and documentation in the Critical Care: able to perform assigned task safely and correctly and document care in a timely and accurately manner.
Collect lab specimens to include Blood Cultures per hospital policy.
Insert Foley catheters.
Insert peripheral IV access adhering to aseptic technique.
Perform 12 lead EKG.
Demonstrate safe and proper use of equipment to include the bladder scanner, mechanical ventilators, IV infusion pumps; Accu-check, Zoll defibrillator, crash cart and bedside, central monitor and Propac transport monitor.
Maintain performance measures in the ER to include: EKG, Troponin, Pneumonia Protocol and turn-around time.
Provide care for medically/surgically unstable patients.
