Key responsibilities & impact- Research and define future technical strategies for Propellerhead and its clients, reporting to the CTO
- Provide core tools, techniques, and software libraries supporting service development teams
- Guide proofs of concept through to production
- Mentor team members on new technologies and practices
- Help teams and customers develop effective, secure enterprise software and deployment architectures in the age of AI
- Define technical solutions through research and team investigation aligned with the CTO's vision
- Participate in full-stack software design and construction, including code structure, deployment architecture, DevOps, automated testing, and third-party integrations
- Use LLMs primarily for software construction, with virtually no hand-coding expected
- Collaborate with client stakeholders and Propellerhead team members on solution design and roadmap delivery within agreed budgets
- Drive migration of polyglot solutions to standardized Rust and TypeScript and more portable deployment architectures
- Share technical learning across the organization to embed technical strategies
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of experience as a Software Developer or Engineer, including enterprise-level complexity
- High proficiency in at least one enterprise-quality programming language and ecosystem, such as C# .NET or Java and Spring
- Experience with a lower-level application or systems development language such as Rust or C++
- Experience with TypeScript and React or similar front-end frameworks
- Well-developed understanding of web application development
- Hands-on experience deploying to Azure and/or AWS
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines
- Experience using infrastructure scripting frameworks such as Terraform
- Demonstrable software design experience for distributed and asynchronous architectures
- Key contribution to designing and constructing projects using microservices and messaging
- Experience using LLMs over hand-coding and ability to explain improvements to delivery speed and system safety
- Ability to produce clear and concise design documents with LLM assistance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness/ability to be based in Auckland; international applicants must plan to relocate to Auckland
- Ability to attend the final recruitment stage in person in New Zealand
- May be required to agree to police background checks, credit history checks, other assessments, and provide evidence of qualifications
