About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver resilient software systems for complex infrastructure and innovative platforms
Work alongside Product Strategists to shape technical specifications and platform direction for a portfolio of client products
Lead and guide the design of complex systems
Apply and reinforce Engineering standards for programming
Shape technical solutions built by the AI-assisted delivery pipeline using a lean and evolutionary approach
Ensure client platforms align with Propellerhead’s technical strategy
Work closely with the Chief Technologist and Engineering Principal to apply standards, patterns, and tooling in client contexts
Provide input into technical strategy through client platform insights and delivery experience
Author, review, and communicate solution architecture and specifications with Development and Engineering teams
Champion Propellerhead’s technical strategy and align portfolio solutions with that vision
Build trusted relationships with client decision-makers and explain solution designs to client technologists
Serve as the go-to technical person for client solutions, including facilitating technical prerequisites and addressing operational improvements
Develop strategies for speed-to-value, security, reliability, maintainability, performance, and functional fit
Facilitate the evolution of the code base from C# to Rust, with AI central to requirements, testing, and code generation

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of experience developing multi-tier and distributed applications
Very comfortable using AI to rapidly prototype, shape solutions, and direct an AI-assisted delivery pipeline across requirements, testing, and code generation
Confident, credible communication and presentation skills with senior client stakeholders
Essential previous experience with React and C#
Confidence working with multiple programming languages, including TypeScript, Java, Go, and Rust
Demonstrable communication skills bridging technical solutions with business needs and presenting to internal and customer stakeholders
Essential hands-on experience designing solutions on Azure
Experience actively participating in building CI/CD pipelines and instrumenting systems for operations
Experience with streaming and messaging platforms such as Kafka or NATS highly desirable
Proven experience leading the design of complex software applications, preferably for corporate enterprise
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; professional, confident presence and ability to communicate and influence clearly
Experience or demonstrable interest in digital identity, verifiable credentials, open banking, AI agent authorization, edge software deployment, or device-based software deployment
Must be based in Auckland; international applicants must be planning to relocate to Auckland
Final recruitment stage requires an in-person interview in New Zealand
