About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work alongside core development teams throughout the development lifecycle to ensure systems are scalable, robust, and supportable
  • Optimise software and infrastructure to improve reliability and decrease cost
  • Design cloud deployment architectures on Azure
  • Lead provisioning of deployment environments, including servers, services, networking, and communications with technical client stakeholders
  • Ensure security, scalability, supportability, and performance in solution architectures
  • Assist development teams with continuous integration and deployment pipelines
  • Carry out scheduled software releases where full automation has not been achieved
  • Configure monitoring and alerting tools and integrate them with support desk software
  • Provide technical assistance for support ticket triaging and troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and remedy reactive support issues during business hours and shared after-hours on-call
  • Complete incident reports and implement ongoing mitigations
  • Monitor incident progress and communicate status updates to clients
  • Design and implement proactive continuous improvement programmes
  • Automate recurring tasks
  • Document system architecture and configuration/deployment processes with AI assistance
  • Share technical knowledge with support developers across multiple teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous experience as a Site/Systems Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent
  • Very comfortable using AI to diagnose, script, automate, and document within an AI-assisted delivery pipeline
  • Expertise developing scalable web applications
  • Some proficiency in Rust, Java, .NET, or Go
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, ReactJS, AngularJS, or similar front-end frameworks
  • Proven scripting experience with PowerShell, Ruby, Python, shell, or other common scripting languages
  • Experience using AI tools to help construct scripts
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure deployment architectures, Microsoft DevOps deployment pipelines, GitHub Actions, and Terraform
  • System administration of Linux cloud-based server environments
  • Troubleshooting and configuration of virtual networks
  • Familiarity with New Relic, Dynatrace, or similar monitoring frameworks, including dashboards and alerting integration
  • AWS and Bamboo/Bitbucket Pipelines experience is advantageous
  • Ability to switch context across different technologies and complex environments
  • Ability to remain calm during high-priority issue resolution
  • Good judgement about when to trust an AI-generated diagnosis and when to verify manually
  • Strong desire to learn and up-skill
  • Must be Auckland based
  • Hybrid attendance: work from home and on-site; office attendance required three days per week and occasionally as needed for client and team requirements
