About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver resilient software systems powering complex infrastructure and innovative platforms
Work alongside Product Strategists to shape technical specifications and platform direction for client product portfolios
Lead and guide the design of complex systems
Apply and reinforce Engineering standards for programming
Shape technical solutions built by the AI-assisted delivery pipeline
Ensure client platforms align with Propellerhead’s technical strategy
Collaborate with the Chief Technologist and Engineering Principal on standards, patterns, and tooling
Author, review, and communicate solution architecture and specifications with Development and core Engineering teams
Champion Propellerhead’s technical strategy across portfolio solutions
Build trusted relationships with key client decision-makers
Ensure teams understand technical requirements and explain solution designs to client technologists
Act as the go-to technical person for client solutions
Facilitate technical prerequisites for delivery and address improvements from operational feedback
Develop strategies for speed-to-value, security, reliability, maintainability, performance, and functional fit
Facilitate evolution of the code base from C# to Rust, with AI central to requirements, testing, and code generation

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of experience developing multi-tier and distributed applications
Very comfortable using AI to rapidly prototype, shape solutions, and direct an AI-assisted delivery pipeline across requirements, testing, and code generation
Confident, credible communication and presentation skills with senior client stakeholders
Essential previous experience with React and C#; confidence working with TypeScript, Java, Go, and Rust services
Strong communication skills and demonstrable ability to bridge technical solutions with business needs
Essential hands-on experience designing solutions on Azure
Active participation in building CI/CD pipelines and instrumenting systems for operations
Experience leading the design of complex software applications, preferably for corporate enterprise
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and confident presence
Experience or demonstrable interest in digital identity, verifiable credentials, open banking, AI agent authorization, edge software deployment, or device-based software deployment
Candidates progressing may be required to agree to police background and credit history checks, complete other assessments, and provide evidence of qualifications
Must be based in Auckland; international applicants must be planning to relocate to Auckland
Final recruitment stage is an in-person interview in New Zealand
