  • - Prepare detailed conceptual, design, and construction cost estimates for federal building projects.
  • - Review construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs.
  • - Develop independent government estimates (IGEs) and support budget planning activities.
  • - Analyze contractor bids, change orders, and cost proposals for reasonableness.
  • - Utilize industry estimating databases such as RSMeans and other estimating software.
  • - Prepare cost reports, estimate narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • - Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and government clients throughout project development.
  • - Identify cost risks, escalation factors, and value engineering opportunities.
  • - Maintain current knowledge of federal construction standards, procurement practices, and market pricing.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualifications and Skills
  • - **Bachelor's degree** in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field.
  • - **Minimum of 7 years of professional electrical estimating experience** supporting commercial, institutional, or federal construction projects.
  • - Experience preparing detailed electrical estimates for vertical building construction projects.
  • - Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, and low-voltage systems.
  • - Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • - Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • - Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • - Experience supporting **federal government construction projects** (GSA, VA, USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, DHS, or similar agencies).
  • - Knowledge of CSI MasterFormat, Uniformat, and federal cost estimating practices.
  • - Experience preparing Independent Government Estimates (IGEs).
  • - Familiarity with RSMeans, CostWorks, Success Estimator, MII, or similar estimating platforms.
  • - Professional certifications such as **AACE, ASPE, CPE, CCP,** or PMP are a plus.
