About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Leading weekly payroll processing across multiple companies and states.
- Managing certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting.
- Administering union payroll, fringe benefit reporting, and remittances.
- Reviewing payroll audits and resolving discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
- Supporting payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Serving as the Paylocity subject matter expert.
- Troubleshooting payroll issues and improving payroll processes.
- Partnering with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Mentoring Payroll Specialists and serving as a technical resource.
- Supporting the Payroll Manager and providing backup leadership when needed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of multi-state payroll experience
- Experience processing payroll across multiple legal entities
- Strong knowledge of certified payroll administration
- Experience with prevailing wage compliance
- Experience administering union payroll and fringe benefit reporting
- Strong payroll auditing and reconciliation skills
- Experience using Paylocity or a comparable payroll/HRIS platform
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Preferred CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or related field
- Experience in construction, industrial services, utilities, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience with labor compliance reporting and government-funded projects.
