About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the site's primary Environmental, Health, and Safety resource at the Williamsburg facility
  • Provide leadership, direction, and expertise to plant management and associates
  • Champion a proactive culture of safety, accountability, and engagement across facility operations
  • Interpret and implement federal, state, and local EHS laws and maintain compliance with environmental permits and programs
  • Lead risk assessments, facility inspections, audits, and preventive risk-reduction measures
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate EHS training programs
  • Conduct root cause analyses of safety and environmental incidents and establish prevention methods
  • Maintain emergency response protocols and incident documentation
  • Build relationships with regulatory agencies, fire departments, wastewater authorities, and internal cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with plant and divisional teams to maintain and advance VPP status
  • Develop tools to measure and report the effectiveness of safety and environmental initiatives
  • Establish and oversee contractor safety requirements, permitting processes, and compliance activities
  • Partner with HR and Operations on injury case management and return-to-work activities
  • Generate analytical reports, track trends, and communicate EHS performance metrics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field — OR equivalent experience
  • Manufacturing or operations environment experience preferred
  • OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulatory knowledge required
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred
  • Strong safety leadership and ability to influence and engage diverse teams
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations
  • Experience in risk assessment, hazard analysis, and incident investigation/root cause analysis
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and training skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis, trend identification, and compliance reporting
  • Experience with EHS management systems, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, and VPP programs
  • Strong understanding of industrial hygiene principles
  • Crisis management and emergency response coordination experience
  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams, management, and external regulatory agencies
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Must pass pre-employment screening, including drug test and background check
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, work on elevated platforms, wear required PPE, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be available for emergency response outside normal business hours
  • Occasional travel to support locations, regulatory meetings, and training sessions
