About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Engineer and design high-voltage transmission line projects through 500kV
Prepare, provide guidance on, or assist with engineering deliverables including line routing, structure selection and design, plan and profile drawings, hardware and conductor selection, equipment and construction specifications, and calculations
Coordinate overall design packages and requirements with engineering and design team members
Develop technical specifications and provide direction to drafters and designers
Direct drafting and designer duties and ensure design schedules are met
Provide regular project status updates to project engineers
Manage multiple projects and deliver detailed design packages compliant with engineering standards and safety codes
Lead collaborative teams to understand scope, prepare deliverables, and provide project updates
Generate design criteria, reports, design verifications, and clearance tables for PLS-CADD
Build and modify pole and tower models for PLS-CADD design
Develop construction assembly drawings, material selections, and structure loading packages for vendor submittal
Develop construction specification packages including drawings, one-lines, phasing, and standard installation specifications
Travel out of town for short periods as required by projects and assignments
Attend and lead internal and external meetings
Follow oral and written instructions, warning signs, equipment-use requirements, and other policies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
PE registration required
At least 7+ years’ experience designing and engineering transmission lines between 69kV and 500kV
Proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Tower
Knowledge of MFAD, LPILE, and NESC requirements
Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and RUS design standards
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced office environment
Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
Ability to manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively
Effective and professional communication with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
Ability to travel out of town for short periods as required by projects and assignments
