Infection Control Specialist
Presbyterian Healthcare ServicesInfection Control Specialist responsible for infection prevention initiatives through data analysis and strategic interventions. Collaborating with healthcare teams to identify and minimize infection risks in patients and staff.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conducts ongoing surveillance to identify, track, and reduce healthcare-associated infections across care settings.
- Collects, analyzes, and reports infection control data to identify trends, outbreaks, and opportunities for quality improvement.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates infection prevention strategies, policies, and interventions to minimize infection risks.
- Monitors compliance with infection prevention standards, isolation protocols, aseptic practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with physicians, clinical teams, leadership, and regulatory agencies to support infection prevention initiatives and outbreak management.
- Serves as an infection control resource by providing education, consultation, and training to employees and clinical staff on best practices and current standards.
- Supports employee health and safety programs related to infectious disease prevention, exposure response, and immunization initiatives.
- Maintains current knowledge of infection prevention regulations, evidence-based guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, or related healthcare field preferred.
- Previous experience in infection prevention, quality, epidemiology, public health, or acute care preferred.
- Current clinical licensure (such as RN, MLS, or related healthcare license) preferred, based on role requirements.
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred or required within designated timeframe.
- Experience with infection surveillance, data analysis, and regulatory compliance preferred.
