About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Implement grassroots and political efforts to strengthen PPPSGV leadership in advocacy and organizing
Develop and manage community outreach efforts to build a progressive activist base
Recruit, engage, and mobilize targeted constituencies around reproductive rights issues
Bridge relationship gaps between PPPSGV and communities in the San Gabriel Valley and Northeast Los Angeles
Develop culturally responsive, multilingual political education and advocacy campaigns with stakeholders
Build relationships and coalitions with community leaders, students, faith groups, businesses, healthcare providers, and other organizations
Serve as a sexual and reproductive healthcare subject matter expert
Manage get-out-the-vote efforts for the 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations
Manage grassroots advocacy, priority legislation, and electoral activities including canvassing, text/phone banking, town halls, and rallies
Plan rapid-response actions with Public Affairs, Communications, and Planned Parenthood affiliate teams
Represent PPPSGV at Planned Parenthood meetings and calls
Support logistics, recruitment, and trainings for annual Capitol Day in Sacramento
Oversee advocacy and campaign volunteer programs, including recruitment, training, orientation, communications, retention, and evaluation
Identify and evaluate community engagement strategies in the San Gabriel Valley and Northeast Los Angeles
Maintain relationships with local college campuses and connect college-aged students to reproductive justice values
Track and report grassroots efforts, supporter engagement, C4 and electoral campaign requirements, events, grants, and campaigns
Support organizing-related emails, social media, and volunteer database maintenance
Maintain PPAPSGV social media through posts, stories, and reels as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience preferred
High School level education and above are welcomed to apply
2–3 years of demonstrated experience in public affairs, organizing, community outreach, and/or volunteer management in campaign or advocacy work
At least one year of experience with grassroots organizations and/or campaigns in AANHPI, youth, queer, and/or immigrant communities strongly preferred
Preference for applicants who are bilingual or multilingual in Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Korean, and/or Spanish
Experience building bases, facilitating meetings and trainings, and organizing stakeholders
Understanding of organizing for power and change through advocacy, community outreach, and campaigns
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with stakeholders, volunteers, and grassroots supporters
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral, and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail, deadline management, and ability to work under pressure
Working knowledge of political campaigns and policymaking at local, state, and national levels
Understanding of reproductive and sexual health and justice issues
Advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite, interactive online messaging, database software, and text/phone banking applications
Reliable automobile and valid driver’s license
Flexible schedule, including some weekends and evenings
Strong understanding of diverse communities in the San Gabriel Valley and Northeast Los Angeles
Ability to make independent decisions using good judgment
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams
Understanding of differences between 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 allowable activities and reporting requirements
Commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission, abortion access, reducing abortion stigma, quality healthcare, and DEI work
Proficiency or strong willingness to use non-binary pronouns
