About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Works on air quality permitting of stationary sources of air pollution for the Pima County Environmental Quality Department
  • Reviews air quality permit applications for new stationary sources and air permit renewal applications
  • Makes permit revisions and records facility changes for existing sources
  • Drafts air quality permits involving technical assessment of estimating air quality emissions
  • Uses Accela to track permit actions and generate invoices
  • Participates in designs, studies and cost estimates and prepares reports for future and proposed projects
  • Coordinates design and other features of work with other departments and public agencies
  • Reviews completed work for conformance with original job instructions and accepted engineering practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering or closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment
  • Relevant engineering experience may be substituted for the education requirement
  • Experience with technical permitting
  • Experience in project oversight
  • Experience working with databases and/or tracking software
  • Experience working with stakeholders, which may include other government agencies, engineers, industry, and members of the public
  • Experience applying and interpreting codes, rules, regulations, laws, and/or ordinances
  • Experience reviewing technical specifications, plans, schematics, and/or engineering designs
