About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Works on air quality permitting of stationary sources of air pollution for the Pima County Environmental Quality Department
Reviews air quality permit applications for new stationary sources and air permit renewal applications
Makes permit revisions and records facility changes for existing sources
Drafts air quality permits involving technical assessment of estimating air quality emissions
Uses Accela to track permit actions and generate invoices
Participates in designs, studies and cost estimates and prepares reports for future and proposed projects
Coordinates design and other features of work with other departments and public agencies
Reviews completed work for conformance with original job instructions and accepted engineering practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering or closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment
Relevant engineering experience may be substituted for the education requirement
Experience with technical permitting
Experience in project oversight
Experience working with databases and/or tracking software
Experience working with stakeholders, which may include other government agencies, engineers, industry, and members of the public
Experience applying and interpreting codes, rules, regulations, laws, and/or ordinances
Experience reviewing technical specifications, plans, schematics, and/or engineering designs
