About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Works on air quality permitting of stationary sources of air pollution for the Pima County Environmental Quality Department
- Reviews air quality permit applications for new stationary sources and air permit renewal applications
- Makes permit revisions and records facility changes for existing sources
- Drafts air quality permits involving technical assessment of estimating air quality emissions
- Uses Accela to track permit actions and generate invoices
- Participates in designs, studies and cost estimates and prepares reports for future and proposed projects
- Coordinates design and other features of work with other departments and public agencies
- Reviews completed work for conformance with original job instructions and accepted engineering practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering or closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment
- Relevant engineering experience may be substituted for the education requirement
- Experience with technical permitting
- Experience in project oversight
- Experience working with databases and/or tracking software
- Experience working with stakeholders, which may include other government agencies, engineers, industry, and members of the public
- Experience applying and interpreting codes, rules, regulations, laws, and/or ordinances
- Experience reviewing technical specifications, plans, schematics, and/or engineering designs
