About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install and repair traffic signals, intersections, streetlights, and street signs
  • Perform preventative maintenance on traffic control devices by cleaning components, checking function, clearing brush/debris, and replacing parts
  • Prepare daily activities by communicating work needs, creating activity logs, documenting inventory, and ensuring safe work practices
  • Participate in installation of traffic signals, street lights, street signs, and surveillance cameras
  • Troubleshoot traffic signal and intersection malfunctions using tests and diagnostics to identify solutions and restore proper traffic operation
  • Work under the general supervision of a Senior Traffic Control Technician
  • Perform work in workshops, warehouses, stations, and external construction worksites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Driver's license
  • Must be able to acquire a Class B CDL within the first six months of employment
  • Coursework in Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) fundamentals
  • Coursework in related electrical/electronic subjects, such as digital electronic fundamentals, troubleshooting techniques, industrial electronics, or computer hardware repair
  • Work experience reading and interpreting electrical or electronic schematics and blueprints
  • Work experience in electrical and electronics troubleshooting
  • Experience working with voltages from 120v to 480v
  • Experience using a multimeter
  • Experience working with electricity and electrical circuits
  • Ability to perform moderate physical exertion, including lifting, carrying, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work near roadway traffic and in extreme hot or cold temperatures
