About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in administering the City's Employee Relations Program
- Provide guidance on organizational Rules and Regulations
- Advise employees and management on available options for resolving workplace issues
- Investigate employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and allegations of misconduct
- Prepare case files, coordinate hearing logistics, maintain hearing records, and manage post-hearing documentation
- Handle confidential and time-sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Frequent interaction with employees, managers, hearing officers, and employee representatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience interpreting and executing federal, state, and local employment laws, rules, regulations, or guidelines (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, Enabling Act)
- Experience interpreting workplace policies and procedures for employers or employees to ensure their understanding and ensure the employer is applying policies and procedures in a consistent manner
- Experience facilitating an employee grievance process, disciplinary appeal process, mediation, or other forms of due process systems
