About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implement and maintain the smooth operation and physical design of databases
  • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases
  • Review database designs and system integrations
  • Provide backup recovery and recommend enhancements
  • Maintain database security and integrity controls
  • Manage enterprise security hygiene and rapidly remediate high-severity CVEs and actively exploited KEVs
  • Formulate database management policies, procedures, and standards
  • Monitor transaction activity and database utilization
  • Develop stored procedures and triggers
  • Administer Oracle RDBMS, MS SQL Server, Postgres DB, and other DBMS platforms
  • Develop and enforce database administration and user standards and procedures
  • Audit, modify, and amend data using SQL commands
  • Oversee database project scheduling, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication
  • Support database designers and information systems analysts in developing SQL and web-based databases
  • Review technical designs, reports, documentation, and other staff-produced materials
  • Create and maintain high-level reporting systems, including Oracle OEM BI reports
  • Research and implement new database and online technologies
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Oracle RAC and Data Guard in production
  • Investigate and resolve complex system requirements and issues using advanced methods, theories, and research techniques
  • Support Peraton’s Department of State CAEIO program modernizing and operating consular IT infrastructure

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 10 years of experience, or Associate’s degree and 14 years of experience, or high school diploma/equivalent and 16 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Minimum active SECRET clearance, with ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance
  • Hands-on experience with full-life cycle implementation of Oracle 19c RDBMS and 19c/21c hub Oracle GoldenGate in production environments
  • Experience upgrading Oracle RDBMS from 11g to 19c
  • Experience with Transparent Data Encryption
  • Experience writing custom monitoring reports for 12c OEM
  • At least 7 years of experience as an Oracle DBA or in an Oracle-related area
  • At least 5 years of experience as an Oracle 11g or 12c DBA
  • Knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, patching, and/or security
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work, balance, and lead complex projects
  • Leadership skills to guide and mentor less experienced team members
  • Preferred: Oracle RDBMS upgrade experience from 11g/12c to 19c and containerization
  • Preferred: Experience with Oracle Cloud Computing
  • Preferred: Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems such as Exadata and Sun Super Cluster
  • Preferred: Experience as an operational DB Ops lead
