About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete a 6–7 week full-time Investigator training program, virtually and in person, to become certified in Federal Investigative Standards
  • Conduct in-person background investigations to determine employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information
  • Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family
  • Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational and financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities
  • Type and report collected information clearly and concisely using a government-issued computer system
  • Work independently while collaborating with a team of Investigators and a Field Manager
  • Travel daily locally and outside the primary work area as needed
  • Complete temporary duty assignments requiring 14–30 days away from home per assignment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree may be considered
  • Experience conducting federal background investigations preferred
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance
  • Active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication preferred
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Denver city center
  • Daily local and occasional out-of-area travel required
  • Home office required
  • Temporary Duty Assignments of 14–30 days away from home may be required
  • Valid driver's license and full-time use of reliable transportation
  • Sufficient motor vehicle insurance
  • Accurate and efficient typing capabilities; 40+ WPM recommended
  • Ability to work concurrently within multiple computer programs
  • Ability to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently for in-person and telephone communication
  • Ability to record, read, and transcribe words and numbers accurately
  • Proficient grammar and writing skills for high-quality reports
  • Professional interaction skills, attendance and punctuality, attention to detail, confidentiality, ethics, and integrity
  • Professional attire required
  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for long periods, and drive in adverse or nighttime conditions
  • Ability to work under remote supervision
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills
  • Proficient writing and communication skills
  • Relocation assistance is not available
