About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete 6–7 week new Investigator training to become certified in Federal Investigative Standards for government background investigations
- Conduct daily travel for in-person background investigations determining employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information
- Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family
- Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational and financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities
- Type and report information clearly and concisely in a government computer system
- Work independently while collaborating with a team of Investigators and a Field Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor’s degree may be considered
- Experience conducting federal background investigations preferred
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance
- Active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication preferred
- U.S. citizenship
- Must reside within 50 miles of Rochester city center
- Daily local and occasional out-of-area travel required
- Home office required
- Temporary Duty Assignments/remote travel of 14–30 days away from home per TDY may be required
- Valid driver's license and full-time use of reliable transportation required
- Sufficient motor vehicle insurance required
- Accurate and efficient typing capabilities; 40+ WPM recommended
- Ability to work with multiple computer programs concurrently
- Ability to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently for in-person and telephone communication
- Ability to record, read, and transcribe words and numbers accurately
- Proficient grammar and writing skills for high-quality reports
- Professional interaction skills, writing endurance, attendance and punctuality, and attention to detail
- High confidentiality, ethics, and integrity
- Professional attire required
- Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for long periods, and drive in adverse or nighttime conditions
- Ability to work with varied individuals and personalities professionally
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment under remote supervision
- Organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills
