About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete 6–7 week full-time new Investigator training virtually and in person to obtain certification in Federal Investigative Standards
Conduct in-person background investigations to determine employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information
Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family
Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational and financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities
Type and report collected information clearly and concisely on a government-issued computer system
Work independently while collaborating with investigator teams and a Field Manager
Travel daily locally and outside the primary work area as needed
Complete temporary duty assignments requiring 14–30 days away from home when required

Requirements

What you’ll need

4 years of general work experience or a bachelor’s degree may be considered
Experience conducting federal background investigations preferred
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance
U.S. citizenship
Daily local travel and travel outside the primary work area as needed
Must reside within 50 miles of Ramona city center
Home office required
Temporary Duty Assignments/remote travel of 14–30 days away from home may be required
Valid driver’s license and full-time use of reliable transportation
Sufficient motor vehicle insurance
Accurate and efficient typing capabilities; 40+ WPM recommended
Ability to work with multiple computer programs concurrently
Ability to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently for in-person and telephone communication
Ability to record, read, and transcribe words and numbers accurately
Proficient grammar and writing skills
Professional interaction skills, attendance, punctuality, and attention to detail
High confidentiality, ethics, and integrity
Professional attire required
Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for long periods, and drive in adverse or nighttime conditions
Ability to work with diverse individuals and personalities professionally
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment under remote supervision
Organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills
Proficient writing and communication skills
