About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Partner with public safety stakeholders, dispatch operations personnel, and technical teams to gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements.
- Translate operational needs into detailed functional and technical requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to define and prioritize defects, enhancements, and system improvements.
- Develop and maintain key artifacts including: Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), User stories and acceptance criteria, Process flow diagrams, Requirements traceability matrices, and Gap analysis documentation.
- Support backlog creation, refinement, and prioritization in coordination with delivery leadership and stakeholders.
- Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and validation scripts aligned to documented requirements.
- Execute functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.
- Validate enhancements, defect fixes, configuration changes, and system releases in a controlled environment.
- Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and production releases.
- Support change management and release processes in a mission-critical environment.
- Document test results, defects, and remediation status using approved tracking tools.
- Collaborate with application support teams to analyze recurring defects and recommend root cause improvements.
- Assist in documenting operational workflows and dispatch processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and system modernization.
- Act as a liaison between operational users and technical teams. Facilitate clear communication to ensure solutions meet business and operational objectives.
- Provide structured reporting on requirements, testing progress, and issue resolution status.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s degree with 6 years of experience, or High School diploma with 12 years of experience.
- U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- 5+ years of Business Analyst experience in enterprise or mission-critical IT environments.
- 3+ years of hands-on application testing experience (functional, regression, UAT).
- Strong experience with requirements documentation including BRDs, use cases, user stories, and traceability matrices.
- Experience supporting production applications in a high-availability or 24x7 environment.
- Familiarity with defect tracking and requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex operational workflows into structured requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
