About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides peer support as someone who has similar life experiences and acts as a positive role model for living in recovery
  • Supports individuals in creating their own person-directed recovery plans
  • Meets individuals at OHSU on the Medical Unit in a hospital room where they receive care
  • Connects individuals with a full range of community resources
  • Attends morning huddle meetings to present pertinent information to care teams
  • Collaborates with various professionals in supporting care plans
  • Documents support services in compliance with policies and regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Identifies as having lived experience in recovery with substance use disorder (SUD) and/or mental health challenges
  • Has at least 24 months of continuous, sustained recovery with SUD and/or mental health challenges before employment
  • Experience with mental health recovery and/or Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is desirable and highly valued
  • Must have a Peer Support Specialist certification or able to be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance required
  • Access to reliable personal vehicle required
