About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and related critical power equipment
- Diagnose electrical and control system faults using schematics, test equipment, manufacturer documentation, and industry best practices
- Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment, and associated power infrastructure
- Respond to emergency service calls and restore customer systems to operational status
- Perform battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacement services
- Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and customer communications
- Develop strong customer relationships through technical expertise and service delivery
- Mentor junior technicians and support field training
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements
- Support additional field service activities as business and customer needs evolve
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switchgear, data center infrastructure, or other mission-critical electrical infrastructure
- Experience with Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB, or comparable critical power platforms strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Experience using multimeters, power quality analyzers, battery testing equipment, and other diagnostic tools
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic system failures
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Proven commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional accountability
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Willingness to travel within the assigned service territory, including overnight and multi-day travel
- Ability to pass required pre-employment drug screening and background check, where applicable
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to work in confined or restricted-access areas and around energized electrical equipment
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance Access to customer facilities
- Compliance with OSHA, DOT, NFPA 70E, customer site requirements, and company safety policies
