About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and related critical power equipment.
- Diagnose electrical and control system faults using schematics, test equipment, manufacturer documentation, and industry best practices.
- Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment, and associated power infrastructure.
- Respond to emergency service calls and restore customer systems to operational status while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
- Perform battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacement services.
- Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and customer communications accurately and professionally.
- Develop strong customer relationships through technical expertise, responsiveness, and exceptional service delivery.
- Mentor junior technicians and support field training efforts by sharing troubleshooting techniques, safety practices, and technical knowledge.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements.
- Support additional field service activities as business and customer needs evolve.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switchgear, data center infrastructure, or other mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
- Experience supporting equipment from manufacturers such as Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB, or comparable critical power platforms is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience using multimeters, power quality analyzers, battery testing equipment, and other diagnostic tools.
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic system failures.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional accountability.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the assigned service territory, including occasional overnight travel as required.
