About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work independently under the direct supervision of the Engineer of Record
  • Aid the structural project design team in coordinating and designing structural building projects during design and construction phases
  • Participate in coordination meetings, design review meetings, and owner-client work sessions
  • Coordinate design and documentation to complete construction documents on schedule and within budget
  • Author and maintain structural specifications
  • Select construction procedures, determine materials and member sizes, and complete design calculations
  • Assist with shop drawing reviews, RFIs, change proposal requests, and change orders
  • Incorporate project changes into project documents
  • Relay and translate design and coordination items to project team members
  • Author engineering reports, memos, and email correspondence
  • Provide site observations and site walks during construction
  • Author observation reports during the Construction Administration phase

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive structural engineering experience designing buildings with steel, concrete, and/or masonry
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis and a Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering with optional Master's degree
  • Highly experienced in shallow and deep foundation design using various building materials
  • Proficiency in Revit Structure 2019 and/or newer
  • High proficiency in complex vertical and lateral analysis using Risa Floor, Risa 3D, ETABS, etc.
  • Ability to verify computer-aided design with hand calculations
  • Ability to perform complex hand sketches for details and connections
  • Proficiency in steel design, including diaphragms, collectors, drag struts, braced frames, and moment frames
  • Proficiency in concrete design, member scheduling, rebar and bend scheduling, and connections
  • Proficiency in masonry design and masonry connections to structural steel and concrete frames
  • Strong understanding of the International Building Code and applicable ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, NDS, and PTI codes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly experienced in Bluebeam Revu and Bluebeam Studio Sessions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
