About the role
- Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations)
- Advises immediate management on project-level issues and makes technical decisions
- Guides and mentors junior engineers
- Operates with little day-to-day supervision
- Applies knowledge of technical best practices and internal conventions
- Deliver scalable reporting solutions that empower merchants with actionable insights
- Improve reliability and efficiency of Hyperwallet’s reporting infrastructure
- Contribute to the modernization of reporting systems, leveraging cloud-first and data-driven approaches
- Build trust with merchants by ensuring reporting accuracy, transparency, and timeliness
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in software or data engineering, with a focus on reporting, analytics, or large-scale data processing
- Strong proficiency in SQL
- Experience working with relational and big data systems (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Hadoop, Hive)
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or Scala
- Hands-on experience with ETL/EDW pipeline development and data warehousing
- Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Tableau) and data APIs
- Familiarity with distributed systems and stream processing (e.g., Kafka, Spark)
- Experience working in financial services, fintech, or payment platforms (preferred)
- Knowledge of payout/reconciliation processes and merchant reporting needs (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cross-functional teams
- A proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
