About the role
- Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
- Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow and makes technical decisions
- Proactively improves existing structures & processes and sets/improves standards for engineering rigor
- Represents PayPal to external partners, customers, or industry organizations
- Design and build comprehensive mobile test frameworks for iOS and Android platforms
- Lead mobile automation strategy including native app, hybrid app, and mobile web testing
- Develop CI/CD pipeline integration for mobile testing and maintain testing tools and utilities
- Develop comprehensive test plans for mobile product releases and produce test strategies, execution reports, and quality assessments
- Drive functional testing initiatives, usability testing, and accessibility testing programs
- Develop internationalization testing strategies and research/implement advanced testing methodologies
- Mentor team members and transform team culture from manual-heavy to automation-first
- Implement pairwise testing algorithms for device and OS coverage and lead cross-platform testing initiatives
- Establish mobile testing metrics, KPIs, governance, documentation, training, and a mobile testing center of excellence
- Ensure mobile applications meet quality and financial services compliance standards and drive continuous improvement
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience building comprehensive mobile test frameworks for iOS and Android platforms
- Experience leading mobile automation strategy including native app, hybrid app, and mobile web testing
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for mobile testing across multiple device configurations and OS versions
- Experience designing and implementing automated testing solutions covering unit, integration, and end-to-end mobile testing
- Experience with accessibility testing and compliance (WCAG)
- Experience with internationalization/localization testing strategies for mobile apps
- Familiarity with cloud-based device testing platforms and device lab management
- Experience with model-based testing, property-based testing, or advanced testing methodologies
- Familiarity with machine learning/GenAI applications for test case generation and visual testing
- Experience with mobile analytics and user behavior testing
- Knowledge of financial services regulations and mobile payment systems (preferred)
- Experience presenting technical concepts to senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Experience with agile/scrum methodologies
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
