About the role
- You code medical services and revenue-relevant ancillary services independently on a case-by-case basis.
- You advise medical, nursing and therapeutic staff on medical documentation and case management.
- You check the completeness and formal correctness of medical and nursing documentation and maintain regular dialogue with medical and nursing staff to ensure and improve documentation quality.
- You review individual cases, handle payer and MDK inquiries, and participate in the preparation and execution of billing audits.
- You support clinics in MDK management and in developing clinic-specific negotiation strategies, as well as in coordination/collaboration for litigation and settlement procedures.
- You provide primary coding coverage as part of substitution/backup arrangements.
Requirements
- Completed medical or nursing vocational training (or equivalent), preferably with professional experience.
- Completed further training as a DRG coding specialist and preferably experience as a coding assistant, ideally in a hospital setting.
- Desirable: knowledge of classification systems (ICD/OPS), German coding guidelines and billing regulations, and experience in MDK management.
- Solid IT skills and proficiency with common office software (Microsoft tools) as well as clinical workstation systems or hospital information system software.
- Analytical thinker, pragmatic in approach, and highly independent in execution.
