About the role

  • Supports system design and testing activities aligned with the product vision set by the Product Owners.
  • Performs technical evaluations to incorporate new devices and capabilities that evolves the technical vision.
  • Creating new technical standards that support future needs while driving system standardization.
  • Makes tradeoffs among technical options to balance execution, support, and vendor risk.
  • Makes tradeoffs among technical options for a portfolio of products.
  • Assesses system failures, identifying root cause, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provides data queries and reports to inform Grid Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of electric utility related experience
  • Experience with grid modeling software (e.g. CYMDIST, PSLF, Aspen, etc)
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills
  • 3–7+ years of experience with SCADA, control systems, or real-time operational technologies
  • Strong knowledge of DNP3, Modbus, 2179 PG&E, IEC 61850 or similar protocols
  • Experience with ADMS platforms (Schneider Electric preferred) including device modeling, application behavior, and CU/HF deployment processes
  • Hands-on experience with grid automation devices (S&C, SEL, Siemens, etc)
  • Proficiency in analyzing telemetry data, communication logs, network models, and system events
  • Familiarity with key Electric Operations systems such as GIS, DMS, OMS, etc.
  • Knowledge of distribution equipment
  • Experience working with the following tools: Jira, MS Excel, Foundry, Power BI
  • Programming with SQL, Python, C#, etc.
