About the role
- Align payroll calculations with accounting, tax, and compliance requirements
- Process and validate structured input data (salary, bonuses, leave) to ensure accurate payroll runs
- Continually inspect and analyse payroll data, flagging and escalating any inconsistencies.
- Define and document operational requirements for technical implementation
- Map product features to payroll workflows, ensuring seamless integration
- Translate manual payroll logic into structured rules that can be automated
- Perform user testing of new features to ensure operational edge cases are covered
- Support the documentation and improvement of payroll workflows and edge cases
- Identify repetitive tasks that could be standardised or automated
- Contribute to the creation of scalable logic and templates for multi-country payroll
- Use Alteryx to automate payroll workflows, reduce manual work, and improve data accuracy
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders (Finance, Product, Engineering, Ops)
- Help track open items, missing data, or blockers across cross-functional teams
- Take ownership of smaller deliverables and follow up with the right people to resolve issues
- Be proactive, organised, and eager to contribute to a high-performing, globally distributed team
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or data roles, with a focus on automating manual processes
- Hands-on experience with data transformation tools like Alteryx or similar automation platforms
- Familiarity with payroll systems and how payroll intersects with accounting, tax, and compliance
- Strong understanding of core financial and payroll concepts (e.g. gross vs. net, statutory deductions, benefits)
- Experience working in fast-paced, innovative environments
- Proficiency in SQL, Looker, or other BI tools
- Experience with process mapping and workflow optimization
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
- Educational background in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Data (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; familiarity with structured data is a plus
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and follow through on deadlines.
