About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate the production and implementation of print and digital communications projects, including accurate mailing lists and materials
- Update and oversee maintenance of the OSCS website
- Create engaging content for OSCS social media accounts and oversee account maintenance
- Respond to external inquiries through social media, the website, and communications email
- Produce content for the blog, newsletters, donor communications, digital campaigns, and external publications
- Communicate with external vendors regarding supplies and print projects
- Manage and maintain the supporter and donation database
- Acknowledge individual donors for their gifts
- Train and assist staff with the supporter database system
- Update fundraising materials with fresh language or information
- Participate in presentations and tabling efforts
- Help plan, coordinate, and implement special events
- Create and update print and digital materials in alignment with brand standards
- Maintain a consistent organizational voice and visual brand
- Organize and update photo and video assets
- Support the annual communications calendar
- Evaluate and report on communications and fundraising effectiveness
- Submit electronic check deposits regularly
- Participate in Development and Communications Team meetings, events, and projects
- Help build a culture of belonging within OSCS
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ year(s) of work experience, preferably related to communications or fundraising
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to coordinate collaborative projects
- Ability to respond resiliently and appropriately in conversations with clients that bring up themes of clients’ traumas
- Ability to read, understand, and write in English
- Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, monitors, keyboards, and software programs
- Familiarity with donor database systems, such as Bloomerang, is a plus
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms is a plus
- Familiarity with Canva, Animoto, or other content-production tools is a plus
- Fluency in Somali, Spanish, Oromo, Pashto, Dari, or another language is a plus
- Experience communicating with English language learners is a plus
- Familiarity with Google Ad Grants or other digital marketing platforms is a plus
- Experience with photography is a plus
- Experience managing an organizational social media page is a plus
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and familiarity with WordPress or another website management system is a plus
