About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide tax advisory support for market entry, geographic expansion, and new business initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Act as a business partner to Strategy, Legal, Finance, Commercial, Treasury, and Operations teams, embedding tax input into planning and execution stages.
  • Translate technical tax rules into clear, commercially practical guidance for non‑tax stakeholders.
  • Advise on legal entity structuring, operating models, and value chain design in both established and new markets.
  • Assess and manage various risks (such as PE, POEM, etc.) and cross‑border operational tax exposure.
  • Support decisions around centralisation, outsourcing, IP use, and intercompany arrangements from a tax perspective.
  • Assess corporate income tax, withholding tax, indirect tax, and other cross‑border tax implications of business activities.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, funding arrangements, intra‑group transactions, and exits from a tax advisory perspective.
  • Identify, evaluate, and advise on tax incentives, exemptions, concessions, and special tax regimes applicable to new markets or investments.
  • Support applications, structuring, and ongoing compliance considerations relating to incentives and preferential regimes.
  • Identify emerging tax risks associated with new products, markets, or ways of operating.
  • Provide technical input on complex interpretative issues escalated by the business or other tax team members (excluding advocacy and disputes).

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) and/or Registered Tax Practitioner / Master’s Degree in Taxation or equivalent professional tax qualification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience within a multinational group, professional services firm, or international tax environment.
  • Significant experience in international and cross-border taxation.
  • Proven experience advising on corporate structuring, new market expansion, transactions, and operating model design.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing tax advisory support to senior executives and business leadership teams.
  • Experience managing complex tax risk assessments and technical tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of international taxation and cross-border tax principles.
  • Deep understanding of corporate income tax, withholding taxes, indirect taxes, transfer pricing, and tax treaty application.
  • Knowledge of PE, POEM, hybrid mismatch provisions, and OECD tax developments.
  • Strong understanding of tax governance and risk management frameworks.
