About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist our team in delivering engineering services on existing projects and pursue new opportunities.
  • Hone your technical skills while gaining broad exposure to project accounting, client service, marketing, and product development.
  • Analyzes information and data to perform routine design tasks.
  • Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
  • Research design options and document findings.
  • Responsible for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
  • Researches code requirements.
  • Prepares environmental impact and other administrative reports required for project permits.
  • Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule, scope or additional services.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; and participating in professional societies.
  • Assist or participate in preparation of project proposals and other business development efforts.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with emphasis on construction engineering.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure in the State of Illinois
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience as a Construction Engineer or similar position.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with ISTHA/IDOT policies, roadway design and plan preparation, and construction engineering.
  • Must have experience with MicroStation design software.
  • Experience with E-Builder, CMMS, and Primavera a plus.
  • Qualified candidate must have a good work history and possess a valid driver's license to use company-owned vehicles to travel to project locations, perform field work, or attend off-property meetings.
