About the role

  • Manage and maintain networking and server infrastructure for OpenVPN's secure networking solutions
  • Implement and improve automation across operations work using Puppet/Ansible and scripting
  • Monitor systems using Prometheus/Grafana and perform basic SQL queries for troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot networking issues including MTU, tunnels, and packet-level analysis with Wireshark/PCP dumps
  • Manage firewalls (iptables), Netplan configurations, SSL, DNS administration, and PKI
  • Manage and maintain physical servers
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response, coordinating across teams
  • Collaborate globally with colleagues to support VPN, cybersecurity, and cloud-based connectivity services

Requirements

  • Expert in Bash scripting
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, basic SQL knowledge)
  • Expert understanding of Networking principles, architecture, and protocols: MTU, Tunnels, Network troubleshooting
  • Experience working with packet dumps (PCP dump, Wireshark)
  • Firewalls [specifically IP tables]
  • Netplans
  • Intimate knowledge of SSL, DNS administration, and managing PKI
  • Automation focused individual who should seek out to implement automation in all work
  • Experience managing physical servers
  • Expert working with Puppet
  • Experience working with Ansible
  • Required to be a part of an on-call rotation and incident response team
  • Strong decision-making ability
  • Collaborative communicator able to coordinate effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders
