About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 20+ water treatment operators, maintenance technicians, and field personnel across multiple facilities
Oversee daily operation, maintenance, and performance of wastewater treatment facilities, distribution systems, and field equipment
Troubleshoot water treatment processes and equipment, including pumps, motors, blowers, filtration systems, chemical feed systems, instrumentation, controls, and SCADA systems
Direct preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
Monitor water quality, treatment performance, process trends, and operational data for regulatory, permit, and client compliance
Coordinate field activities, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation within approved client budgets
Lead responses to equipment failures, process upsets, emergencies, and system outages
Develop standard operating procedures, maintenance practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers on repairs, upgrades, installations, start-ups, and technical support
Conduct field inspections and operational assessments
Ensure team training and qualification in operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, safety, and regulatory compliance
Enforce company, client, and regulatory safety requirements through meetings, audits, investigations, and corrective actions
Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders on performance, compliance, and service delivery
Work with Project Managers on operations and maintenance budgets, expenditures, and cost efficiency
Maintain operational, maintenance, and compliance records and reporting
Provide senior leadership updates on performance, staffing, equipment reliability, safety metrics, and risks
Prepare facilities and teams for regulatory inspections, audits, and client reviews
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of treatment operations experience in environmental, oil & gas, landfill, or power industries preferred
Experience and/or familiarity with wastewater treatment equipment and/or HVAC systems
Proven experience with OSHA safety standards
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems development, engineering, project management regulations, practices, and codes
Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office software
Excellent time management, organizational, and technical communication skills
Experience taking responsibility for high-level tasks and driving subtasks to rapid conclusion with autonomy
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel
Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities
Valid driver's license and clean MVR required
Reliable transportation for travel to job sites required
Ability to sit, stand, and walk
Ability to lift 50 pounds several times a day
Ability to perform overhead lifting of over 20 pounds
Ability to work outdoors and in hot, cold, rainy, windy, and sunny conditions
