About the role
- Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields and use other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
- Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers.
- Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
- Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems.
- Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
- Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
- Prepare reports for external publication.
Requirements
- An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR AMS degree and 12 years' experience. OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.
- 15-20 years of design authority experience in the nuclear industry.
- Working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, ETAP, and OSHA requirements.
- Experience using software (preferably ETAP) to generate electrical system calculations.
