About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process and submit medical claims for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care plans
  • Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to submission
  • Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims and assist with appeals and corrections as needed
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, authorizations, and billing requirements
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, payment discrepancies, and authorization issues
  • Work closely with clinicians, intake staff, physicians’ offices, and hospitals to obtain required documentation and orders
  • Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately into the billing system
  • Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation
  • Assist patients and families with billing questions and insurance-related concerns in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collection efforts when appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Support the administrative team with additional office and billing duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous medical billing experience required; home health billing experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, EVV, PDGM, and managed care billing processes preferred
  • Experience with EMR or billing software systems preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
