Vocational Instructor – Paralegal

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one's field, instructional and professional duties, professional development and service.
- Instructional duties may include any or all of the following: instructional (teaching assignments); course and program preparation and revision; student contact; student advising; evaluation and marking of student work and other functions related to instruction.
- Professional duties may include any or all of the following: curriculum development, student registration and preregistration duties.
- Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.
- Service may include any or all of the following: school visitations; participation on OC committees; attendance at articulation meetings; representing OC at other functions; administrative and other duties.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Paralegal certificate or diploma, plus five years of work in a legal setting as a paralegal.
- Completion of or current enrolment in a Provincial Instructor's Diploma or valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience, which may include a university degree in an appropriate discipline, will also be considered.
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current paralegal skills and practices and recent experience in a legal environment.
- Knowledge of online learning platforms such as Moodle or Brightspace (preferred).
- Online/hyflex teaching experience would be an asset.
