About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Cultivate a caring, supportive, and inclusive school community
- Provide coaching and professional development on classroom management strategies
- Collaborate with staff and families to improve student behavior, attendance, engagement, academic success, and well-being
- Engage families, community organizations, businesses, and postsecondary institutions to support student transitions to education and employment
- Communicate the school’s mission and vision and solicit community feedback
- Formulate and administer a comprehensive Career and Technical Education program
- Develop, implement, and lead instructional programs; assess curriculum, pedagogy, lesson plans, and classroom instruction
- Share responsibility for academic achievement and social-emotional well-being
- Plan teacher professional development, staff in-service days, parent-teacher conferences, and extended learning opportunities
- Collaborate with instructional leaders to ensure MTSS/RTI processes are followed
- Coordinate summer educational opportunities
- Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, selecting, hiring, retaining, recognizing, and supporting school staff
- Ensure nondiscriminatory faculty and staff selection practices in accordance with EEO requirements
- Collaborate on state, charter-authorizer, federal, and sponsor reporting and charter renewal requirements
- Address compliance items related to the school’s Sponsor Agreement
- Support state-required testing, including in-person testing
- Update parent and student manuals, policies, and handbooks
- Stay current on state policies, procedures, and legislation
- Handle student problems escalated by parents and teachers
- Travel approximately 15% and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current valid Principal and Teacher license in the state of Ohio
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related discipline
- Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
- Knowledge of state academic content standards
- Minimum seven years of experience in education or a related field
- Two or more years of successful school administration or instructional leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain rigorous academic programs
- Experience in public education accountability, compliance, and related legal requirements
- Knowledge of trauma, equity, inclusive practices, restorative practices, and classroom management strategies
- Knowledge or experience with innovative school designs and instructional models, including blended, inquiry, problem/project-based, and personalized learning
- Ability to manage confidential information
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Ohio residency is preferred
