About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead development, procurement, acceptance, and configuration control of full-scope, part-task, classroom, and computer-based simulation products
Coordinate with I&C engineering on operations considerations and iterative control-system design
Define simulator scope, functional requirements, and fidelity requirements from plant design data
Validate simulator performance and lead benchmark, performance, and operability testing
Develop and maintain scenario and malfunction libraries for normal, abnormal, design-basis, and beyond-design-basis conditions
Manage simulator deficiency reporting, training and examination impact evaluations, periodic testing, and re-validation
Perform training needs assessments, job and task analyses, and translate design, operational, and regulatory inputs into training requirements
Apply SAT methodology to design learning pathways, course materials, examinations, and qualification programs
Deliver or direct instruction, evaluate trainee performance, and mentor instructors and instructional designers
Support emergency response organization training, drills, exercises, and evaluations
Maintain compliance with nuclear quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry benchmarks
Represent training and simulator programs during audits and assessments and lead corrective actions to closure
Support accreditation, licensing, examination, and program-efficacy activities
Establish performance metrics and use results to drive program improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical depth established through licensed operations experience
Deep understanding of control systems in nuclear power plants
Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or SRO certification
10+ years of nuclear experience spanning plant operations, technical or operator training, or both
INPO or utility instructor certification
Experience delivering instruction on integrated plant systems and their interrelationships to operations or technical audiences
Application of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) across analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, with measurable program effectiveness outcomes
Direct experience with full-scope simulator development, validation, acceptance testing, or configuration management
Working knowledge of nuclear quality and regulatory frameworks governing training and personnel qualification
Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience authoring or administering regulatory licensing examinations
Experience applying simulator standards and requirements, including benchmark and performance testing, deficiency tracking, and periodic re-validation
Familiarity with personnel selection, qualification, and training standards
Experience with an industry or national training accreditation framework
Experience developing training programs for new reactor designs or plants without operating reference units
Familiarity with international nuclear standards and host-country regulatory frameworks
Experience supporting emergency response organizations, including drill and exercise development and evaluation
Experience managing or technically leading instructors, instructional designers, and subject matter experts
Prior naval nuclear or other military nuclear program experience
Ability to work in compliance with U.S. export control requirements; DOE authorization may be required depending on candidate status
